Antics of an Angel

Ok- this is pretty much just a series of amusing pictures of Hannah.
Celery

Popsicle- great for teething but very messy!

Not really sure what that was... but it was a mess! And very cute!

Learning to read young! That's my girl!

Mommy's computer tastes yummy too!

SHOES!!!! (before)

And after

Mommy's little helper

But I like the Siggy...

I want the phone

Cardboard is chewy

I have my own kitty now

What do you mean you bought the Toblerone for  Mommy?

I knew it was really for me!

Mommy, I like Moose Tracks!

Daddy, Mommy won't give me Moose Tracks! Please make Mommy give me ice cream.

Yay!

Wait a second! It's empty...

Now where does this piece go? ( Side note- this was one of my puzzles)

Having exhausted the usefulness of her own toys Hannah proceeded to pull out Mommy and Daddy's playing cards

I have so much fun!!

Cheerios

Cheerios- the coveted snack of children= eternal messes for mothers.

This is actually creamed corn, but enjoyed none the less!
One morning I realized that I hadn't cleaned up the Cheerios from the floor from last night- it was a busy night. So in an effort to keep Hannah out of the sweepings of the broom, I put her in the high chair with a couple of toys while I swept. Once I had finished and my floor was once again Cheerio free, Hannah started fussing because it was lunch time and she had been in the high chair without yummies for long enough.
And this would be chocolate pudding with whipped cream on top!

So what did I do? I gave her a few Cheerios while I finished getting her lunch and mine prepared. When  I turn around there are Cheerios magically on the floor again. I think they multiply and jump onto the floor or other places. I cannot even begin to say where all I have found Cheerios recently!

I also find that the cats and Hannah are working together to spread Cheerios throughout the house. Hannah throws them on the floor and the cats play with them and bat them around the house, and since we have hard wood it is fairly easy to get the Cheerios all over. I suppose the cats are pleased by this new development because the more table food Hannah has, the more chances they have of getting what she throws on the ground.

Yes, I made a mess, what of it?
I find that even though I am constantly cleaning up messes that I am happy to do it because (for the moment at least) it is amusing to watch her make the messes. She is such a precious little girl. I am so blessed!

Of Cats and Children

I know most people say cats are aloof and some even downright unfriendly. Well, not mine. I have two cats, a black female named Draca- we got her after seeing How To Train Your Dragon and Toothless just didn't seem appropriate and Sigfried or Siggy, a striped male. I really couldn't ask for sweeter cats. They are so loving and precious... to a fault. If they do not get enough attention they get very unhappy.

Draca is a very sweet dainty girl but one of her favorite activities is to come walking down the hall meowing at the top of her lungs. Or worse standing at the door of Hannah's bedroom doing the same. It's as if she knows that Hannah is asleep and wants to interrupt it.

Siggy, precious thing doesn't seem to understand that Hannah is mobile now. He has what we call his "safe box". This is something of a misnomer because he is definitely NOT safe in it. But for some reason he thinks he is. On more than one occasion, Hannah has driven him completely out of the box so that she could sit in it herself.

This brings me to another observation. I have never bought a single cat toy since having these cats. Why? because I have no need to do so. They are far more interested in playing with a crumpled up piece of paper than a ball any day. I have to hide my hair ties because Siggy in particular finds them and hides them from me. They would also rather play with empty shoe boxes or soda boxes than a cat climbing tower. I am finding that some days the same applies for Hannah. She is far more interested in pulling out all my tupperware and playing with empty boxes (stolen from unhappy cats) than her baby toys.

And as for the unhappy cats, they find their own ways of getting even. Siggy has found a new favorite spot to sleep: Hannah's high chair. He just curls up and falls right to sleep.

But despite the lack of willingness to share toys the cats are very fond of Hannah and she absolutely adores them!

Beginnings

I have never been very good at keeping a journal. I wish I were, but I am not. I have started this blog to record the adorable things that Hannah does. If I don't write it down somehow I am afraid that I will forget.

7 months ago I was given a beautiful gift. On September 27 Hannah Elizabeth was born. She came charging into this world at exactly 4:30 pm. And I do mean charging! I hardly had to push at all! Since then, we have laughed (a lot), cried (mostly from sleep deprivation), and thanked God for what a beautiful treasure He has entrusted us to care for and raise.

These 7th months have flown by- I can hardly believe that she is growing so fast! In just the past couple of weeks she has made some great strides and conquered some major milestones. She went from doing what Jonathan and I termed as the "worm" (her initial method of movement) to sitting by herself, actually crawling, pulling herself up to stand and saying "dada" all in one week! This all happened during Master's week, so what a blessing it is that Jonathan got to witness every one of these things first hand.

The most memorable moment from this Master's week occurred Sunday afternoon at my parents' house. We were sitting on the sofa watching the Masters, Hannah with me. Jonathan got up to get a snack and when he came back she reached her arms up to him and said very clearly: Dada!! His heart just melted and he admitted that in that moment on he was wrapped around her little finger.
